Refund and Returns Policy

This Refund & Returns Policy explains how returns, exchanges, and refunds work when you purchase from Maktabah Al-Hidayah. By placing an order, you agree to the terms below. Your statutory rights are not affected.


1) Return window (30 days)

  • You may request a return within 30 days of delivery.
  • To start a return, email info@maktabahalhidayah.com with your order number, reason for return, and (if applicable) photos of the item/packaging.

2) Eligibility & condition

To be eligible for a return, items must be:

  • New, unused, and in resalable condition, with all original packaging, inserts, and any shrink-wrap or publisher seals intact.
  • Free from writing, stamps, highlights, bent corners, odor, or other signs of use.

Non-returnable items (if offered on our site):

  • Digital products/download codes, gift cards, personalized items, and any item marked “Final Sale” or “Non-returnable” on its product page.

If an item is returned used or not in resalable condition, we may decline the return or issue a partial refund at our discretion.

3) Wrong, damaged, or defective items

If your order arrives wrong, damaged, or defective, contact us within 7 days of delivery:

  1. Email info@maktabahalhidayah.com with your order number.
  2. Attach clear photos of the item, outer packaging, and shipping label.
  3. Keep all packaging materials until your claim is resolved.

If confirmed, we’ll offer a replacement, exchange, or full refund and provide next steps. For carrier-caused damage, we may initiate a shipping claim on your behalf.

4) Exchanges

Exchanges are available for the same title (subject to stock) when an item is defective/damaged or the wrong item was sent. If the exact item is unavailable, we can process a refund or recommend alternatives.

5) Return process (RMA)

  1. Request approval: Email us to obtain return authorization (RMA) and the return address (DeKalb, Illinois).
  2. Pack securely: Use the original packaging if possible. Include the RMA and order number inside the parcel.
  3. Ship:
    • If the return is due to our error (wrong/damaged/defective item), we’ll cover/credit reasonable return shipping or provide a prepaid label.
    • For all other returns (e.g., change of mind), you are responsible for return shipping costs and retaining a trackable proof of shipment.
  4. Inspection & refund: We inspect returns within a reasonable timeframe after receipt and then process the refund (see Section 7).

6) Cancellations

  • Before shipment: If your order has not shipped, contact us as soon as possible to request cancellation.
  • After shipment: Please follow the standard return process once the parcel is delivered. Unaccepted/refused deliveries may incur return shipping charges deducted from your refund unless due to our error.

7) Refunds (how and when)

  • Method: Refunds are issued to your original payment method.
    • If you paid via Zelle, refunds are typically sent back via Zelle to the same account details you used. If that’s not possible (e.g., bank limitations), we’ll coordinate an alternative refund method or store credit, per your preference.
  • Timing: After we receive and approve your return, please allow 3–10 business days for your bank to post the credit. Processing times vary by institution.
  • Shipping fees: Original shipping charges are non-refundable except where the return is due to our error or a verified defect/damage claim.

Late or missing refund?
First check with your bank/issuer. If you still don’t see the refund after the timeframe above, contact us at info@maktabahalhidayah.com.

8) Undeliverable, unclaimed, or refused parcels

Parcels returned to us as undeliverable, unclaimed, or refused (for reasons not attributable to our error) will be refunded minus shipping costs when the parcel is safely received back and inspected. Reshipment is available upon request with payment of new shipping charges.

9) Lost-in-transit

If tracking shows no movement for an extended period or the carrier confirms loss, contact us. After the carrier’s investigation window, we can offer a replacement or refund. Timeframes depend on the carrier’s policies.

10) Pre-orders and backorders

  • Pre-orders: You may cancel a pre-order before it ships for a full refund. Once shipped, standard return rules apply.
  • Backorders: We’ll notify you if an item is delayed. You can wait, swap to an in-stock item, or request a refund before shipment.

11) International returns (if applicable)

Our default checkout is for U.S. addresses. If we arrange an international order by email, returns must be pre-approved. You are responsible for return shipping, customs forms, and any duties/taxes. Refunds exclude duties/taxes and original shipping unless due to our error.

12) Proof of purchase

We generally require your order number or purchase confirmation email. Purchases from third-party marketplaces or resellers must be handled through that seller’s return process.

13) Fair use & abuse

We reserve the right to refuse service, limit returns, or deactivate accounts in cases of suspected abuse (e.g., repeated high-volume returns, used items returned as new, or fraudulent claims).

14) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal/compliance reasons. Updates will be posted here with a new Effective date. Your continued purchases after changes take effect constitute acceptance.
